Abstract

|
A 67-year-old woman developed acute left oculomotor nerve palsy, as well as weakness in all four limbs. Neurologic examinations and electrophysiologic study revealed an acute motor axonal neuropathy, a subtype of Guillian-Barre syndrome (GBS). Serum IgG type of anti GM1 antibody titer was elevated at first and decreased simultaneously with improvement of left oculomotor nerve palsy. This extremely rare manifestation of unilateral cranial neuropathy presenting as oculomotor nerve palsy in axonal GBS indicates clinical variability of axonal GBS.
